NO RULES!

JUST BLOODSHED!

DBX!

Wielders of Wonderful Weapons![]

Several Grimm dashed at a kid in a black jacket, with a blue/red undershirt. His hair was brown and spiky, and in his hands an odd weapon shaped like a key. This was Sora, the wielder of the Keyblade.

Sora slashed at the Grimm in a circle, annihilating all of them. He sighed, but another one came at him. Just as it was about to pounce on him, a figure in a red cloak jumped out of the shadows, slicing clean through the Grimm. She took off her hood, revealing short black hair. Ruby Rose was in the fight.

"Hi, are you in Beacon, too?!"

Sora didn't reply. He just kept out the Keyblade. Ruby stared, confused for a second, before she had to dodge and oncoming slash from him.

"Hey? What was that for?!"

Sora turned around. His eyes were glowing with a determination to beat this enemy. Anybody in a hood was an organization member, after all.

HERE WE GO![]

Sora started by hurling his Keyblade at Ruby, causing her to block it with a scythe slash. She ran at Sora, who in turn jumped up. The Keyblade disappeared from his hands as it appeared behind Ruby and slashed her head. Ruby stood, stunned, as Sora grabbed the Keyblade and delivered a combo of slashes on her. He followed up by unleashing a ball of fire which sent her flying backwards.

Ruby slammed smack into a building and got back up. She found Sora dashing at her, and instantly blocked it with her scythe. Sora was knocked back as Ruby slashed at him several times. She flew back a bit, aiming the Crescent Rose forward and fired off a round. This sent Sora flying into midair, where Ruby slashed him several times. Sora fell to the ground as Ruby landed before him.

"What's your problem, mister?"

Sora got back up, aiming his Keyblade forward. A ball of fire shot out, but Ruby blocked it an disappeared. To Sora's surprise, she reappeared behind him and slashed him. Sora slid backwards a bit, but didn't fall over.

"Thunder!"

A bolt of lightning crashed on Ruby, stunning her briefly. Sora dashed at her, and they met blades. Sora pushed forward with all his might, but Ruby took the advantage. Sora's foot fell back, but then he shone with a bright aura.

Limit Form Sora burst from the light. Ruby backed off, but Sora dashed forwards and used Sonic Blade, slashing through Ruby several times. He followed up by raving upwards and delivering a downward stab, which impaled Ruby through the stomach. Sora pulled out the Keyblade and stepped back, but surprisingly, Ruby was smiling! Sora felt something stream down an eye. He wiped it off, revealing it to be a tear. He now knew it was a misunderstanding, but for both, it was a fight to remember. Sora looked down, watching his opponent die, and when he made sure that the mangled body was dead, Sora walked away, as Ruby's heart drifted into the sky.

Fight[]

Forest, 11:30AM.

β€œThis world totally blows.” Sora groaned, trudging along the leaf-coated forest floor with Donald and Goofy in toe.

β€œYou’re telling us. We look like a couple of bozos walking around like this!” Donald growled in his usual gurgling tone.

The world transformations had not been kind to Donald and Goofy. For some reason, even though Sora got to keep his appearance just fine, their fur had been dyed jet black with strange blobs of hard white bone appearing over their forms. Their cartoonishly friendly eyes now took the color of a wilting red, which matched the graffiti like streaks on their bone sections.

β€œOh, come on Donald, enjoy it a bit! You don’t just get to change your appearance like this every day.” Goofy pointed out, significantly more at peace with his changed appearance.

The duck just stared back at him with a dumbfounded look.

β€œAw, phoey! I am a proud duck with high standards for my beauty and now I’m walking around looking like one of those crappy candy-bars you fish out of the clearance bin for dirt cheap and end up getting sick from!” He grumbled.

Sora raised an eyebrow.

β€œThat’s a bit specific.”

β€œHey, Sora!” Goofy called out to the boy.

The dog pushed his fingers to the sides of his lips, exposing his shimmering fangs in the bright sunlight.

β€œDo I look scary?” He asked, with a slight laugh.

β€œYou look like a big idiot!” Donald spat back.

Despite his darker color palette, Goofy looked just as, well, goofy as he did normally. Sora noticed that he had angled his mouth in a way that meant he had to look at the sky, so he couldn’t see actually see Sora’s reaction.

β€œYou’re real scary Goofy, you can’t see but I’m shaking right now.” Sora said with a slight giggle.

Between the three of them, this was nothing more than childish joke among friends. However, from a distance, the privilege of context was lost. This was exactly the predicament Ruby Rose found herself in. The three’s conversation was confined to the view from her scoped sniper that she was using to scout the forest area. Her eyes widened as she saw them, not privy to their bickering and simply looking at them without any sound.

That guy’s controlling Grimm? How? Is he working for Salem? It’d make sense, she creates them and he controls them.

She briefly weighed the options in her mind before deciding on a course of action. With a swift move of her hand she pulled the trigger of her rifle, two glowing bullets discharging from the nozzle with break neck speed. Before the sound of the shots had even rung out, she folded the scythe into its compact form and blasted forward across the land, petals falling in her wake.

BANG!

BANG!

Goofy had only just pulled his fingers out of his mouth when the sounds rung out. The hefty bullets slammed forward through the treetops, first slamming into Goofy’s head and then Donald’s.

β€œWhat?!” Sora cried out, watching as his unconscious friends were sent flying into the trees from the impact.

From the depths of the forest, another searing bullet came flying forward. Sora barely leaned back in time to save himself from the same fate as the two animals, narrowly dodging out of the way before his eyes began to scan around the area to try and find the source of the attack.

Fwoosh!

He heard the sound of boots connecting with the bark on the tree behind him, but that sound was soon multiplied tens of times over. Flickers of red streaked into view, petals fluttering from their trails. The momentum built up around them so thickly that Sora could almost feel it creeping into his bones. The keyblade apparated into his hand with a small burst of light, Sora gripping it tightly as he listened out for the resulting attacked. The noise that had been whispering around him finally released its energy, reaching a head as his attacker swung from behind. He snapped backwards, raising the keyblade up just in time to block the slash that had been aiming for his back.

Sparks fizzled off the clash of metal, the two opponents looking up at each other with time seemingly freezing around them. Steel on light, silver on blue, scythe on key blade. Ruby and Sora’s eyes locked, both taking in the others form with one question in their minds.

"Who are you?!"

Here we go

Sora immediately used his superior strength to oppose his will upon the clash of weapons. He thrust the keyblade upward, the red sparkling of the ripple drive sending Ruby flying back onto the dirt. She kipped up quickly, keeping her guard steady and her gaze fixed fiercely. Sora, on the other hand, immediately became looser with an apologetic expression on his face.

β€œHey, I think this is all a misunderstanding! See, me and my- β€œ

His expression quickly darkened as he got a better look at Ruby.

Colored hair.

Cool weapon.

Special abilities.

All she was missing was the cloak.

β€œYou organization goons never let up, do you?!” He yelled, slinking down into his battle stance.

β€œThe only organization I belong to is the β€œsmart people who are also really good at fighting” foundation!” Ruby awkwardly shot back, face briefly lighting up with a glimmer of self-consciousness before she shook it off and petal rushed forward.

She collided with Sora like a human bullet, pushing him back a bit. Landing for split-second, she jumped right back into her speed form and began hastily circling around him with attacks. Each slash was solidly blocked by the keyblade, crescent rose not being able to make as much as a dent in the giant key, but she was clearly wearing Sora down. With only a couple of swings, his posture was already loose and staggering. A few more hits and-

β€œBack off!”

FWOOSH!

Sora slammed his keyblade against the ground, strands of electricity surrounding in a stun impact. The stinging sensation froze Ruby in her tracks, all of her momentum halting in less than a second. She was a sitting duck as Sora began his combo. Two sharp hits to her abdomen followed by a back swing.

β€œTake that!”

Despite the fact that it looked blunter than an unsharpened pencil, the keyblade was deceptively strong. It hit Ruby hard enough to send her flying back across the ground, leaves sticking to her cape. She glanced upward, noticing Sora running towards her. She activated her semblance once more, zipping forwards just like had had wanted her to.

β€œWind!” He cried, shooting an aero spell out at the spot she had been intending to land on.

Ruby, along with a massive bundle of leaves, became ensnared in the grip of the miniature hurricane, flailing doing nothing to get her out of her predicament.

β€œFire!”

The reason for the initial aero became apparent, as Sora’s burst of fire set both her and the bundle of leaves ablaze. The thrashing of the wind and stinging of the flame pounded onto her aura, threatening to break it outright.

β€œStream!”

A blast of water flowed forward, slamming into Ruby and sending her now extinguished body flying towards a tree. She only just recovered in time to stabilize herself, preventing a potentially nasty crash by thrusting her feet out and gently rebounding off the stump. Her hands immediately folded Crescent Rose into its sniper form, the girl quickly taking aim at Sora. Trained fingers clicked into the trigger, sending a sparkling shot of dust flying towards the boy’s head. If he’d been any slower, it might have legitimately killed him, but Sora was anything but slow. He raised a hand up, catching the bullet tightly in his palm. Purple bolts of gravity magic flickered around the iron ammunition, the heat of it’s shot sizzling through the palm of Sora’s glove.

β€œThat was pretty cool.” Ruby grumbled, switching her ammo pack from the regular shots to a different pack. β€œNow try doing it again!”

She fired another shot, Sora immediately dropping his held bullet and attempting to catch the newly ejected one. However, he immediately realized that this was a stupid idea. Electricity crackled through the air; courtesy of the lightning dust that had been infused within Ruby’s bullets. He had no time to switch game plans and the bullet slammed into his glove like the previous one had. This time though, Sora felt repercussions. Threads of baby blue electricity fizzled through his arm, spreading around his body and rendering him paralyzed for the moment.

Ruby capitalized, jumping diagonally from tree to tree with petals flowering behind her. Each leap pushed her forward with more and more force, wind howling in her wake. With the (literal) momentum on her side, she was starting to feel at home on the battlefield once again. As she approached him, Sora used a shaky arm to try and swipe at her with the keyblade but he hit nothing but air. Ruby sped past him, a violent vortex of pure wind following her lead. All Sora could do was brace as it harshly slammed into him, throwing him through the air like a ragdoll. So severe was the attack, that it completely threw off his vision. Branches scraped against his clothes, leaves falling to the wayside as he brushed threw the treetops before finally, he crashed down into an open sunny area. Grass rustled beneath his back as he struggled to get up. His back ached, pain courtesy of the massive fall he’d just taken. There was a stream of water flowing not to far from where he lay.

Fwoosh!

Crimson petals blistered through the air, as Ruby came diving toward him with a ridiculous amount of momentum behind her. Crescent Rose’s sharp blade shimmered in the sunlight, it’s edge slicing down with aim for Sora’s head. As it was now, he had around half a second before she embedded the scythe in his cranium. He gripped the keyblade, mana rushing through his fingers.

β€œStop.” He whispered.

Crescent Rose motion ceased completely under the will of stopga, but Ruby’s didn’t. She faceplanted over Sora, rolling onto her own back as her own momentum was used against her. He kipped up to his feet, brandishing the keyblade while Ruby got up to hers. With force behind his arm, he tossed the weapon forward with Strike Raid. She slid under it, quickly vaulting over onto her feet while the weapon reappeared in Sora’s hand. He slashed forward, allowing Ruby to duck yet again as she prepared her ultimate move.

Here it goes!

She shot up towards Sora’s chin, intent to knock his lights out using her own skull! For sure this would win her the fight, there was no chance that he-

Oh no…

Walked back one step and dodged.

I whiffed!

The keyblade smashed into the side of her head, sending her to the floor. An immediate sting rushed through her skull, Ruby putting a soothing hand to her head as she rolled out of the way Sora’s follow through plunging attack. Because of this, the blade of the key become lodged into the ground which gave her a small window of opportunity to petal dash forward to the unfrozen crescent rose. As she did so however, the keyblade shot sideways like a balancing beam, tripping her up. Ruby scattered down to her knees. Her hands crawled forward, a desperate attempt to keep hold of the small jolt of momentum she’d had, before she was inevitably forced to roll out of the way of Sora’s next attack. This slash opened him up somewhat, letting Ruby use both her legs to first kick at him and then use the motion of that kick to summersault backwards onto her feet. Now was her chance.

She ran forward towards crescent rose, progressively getting closer and closer until she was probably only an arm’s length away from the handle.

β€œGather!” Sora shouted, firing off a blast of magnet magic in a last-ditch effort to separate her from the scythe.

The storm of motion caused by the magnet yanked at Ruby. Her fingers just brushed the grip of her weapon before the bundle of energy reached a head and she was flung backwards. Sora leapt forward, hoping to swat her out of the air with his keyblade only to find Ruby had other plans. With a determined look in her eye, Ruby reached into her pocket and held out a pack of gravity dust ammo in front of her like a shield. The head of the key blade pierced through its metal exterior, uprooting a massive dusty cloud of gravity that sent Sora flying back and Ruby flying forward out of the grip of the magnet. She rolled when she hit the ground, relieved to feel the smooth grip of Crescent Rose back in her hands again.

Sora rolled back onto his feet in the meanwhile, watching his opponent with a thinking gaze.

She can’t gravitate her weapon back to her like the keyblade and she’s not that good without it. If I can just split her up from it…

It didn’t seem like he would have the chance as Ruby came soaring forward with the power of her semblance. Sora hastily form-changed his keyblade, the sharp, spiraling energy of the agile claws radiating from his hands. Just as quickly as he’d done this, he transformed this energy into two straight strings on which the twin yo-yos bounced from. In an anxious attempt to try and stop the girl from running through him, Sora spun the yoyo’s forward at the swirling crimson cannonball that was flying at him. Ruby weaved through the path of the yo-yo’s and, with a harsh slash, sliced through the energy strings that were connecting Sora to his weapon. Then she set her eyes on the boy himself.

She slashed forward, catching his neck in the nook of her scythe before he even had a chance to re-summon his keyblade. His body was slammed against the ground yet again and it hurt just as much as it had prior. This only worsened as Ruby took off in a sprint along the ground, dragging Sora along the ground while gunshots rung out from the back of her scythe. Each discharge of dust made her that much faster and Sora’s ride that much bumpier until, eventually, Ruby dived forward into the stream that had lay up ahead. She flung Sora forwards, slamming him into the water with a mushroom-cloud like splash. However, she had been so focused on disposing of her foe, that she forgot she was heading for the pond too.

Her entry was significantly daintier than Sora’s. Whereas Ruby softly floated to the top with small ripples echoing around her waist, Sora had most likely hit the bottom of the lake with how hard she’d thrown him. With a small sigh of relief, Ruby lazily attempted to float over to the other side of the lake, supposing that she’d seen that last of Sora for a while…

Then she saw the crawling ice storming across the waters edge.

It was obvious his intention. By freezing the lake entirely, he was going to trap her in a blisteringly cold prison of which she wouldn’t be able to escape from. The ice raced through the water like a virus, seizing the fluid in it’s chilling grasp. Her eyes widened, grasping crescent rose and pointing it to the bottom of the sea floor.

BANG!

She fired its rifle, rocketing her up into the air while the ice completely took over the body of water. By the time she began to drop down, the stream had was closer to an ice-skating rink than the modest pool it had been prior.

Crack.

Wait, what was that?

CRACK!

The ice shattered in on itself as a shadowy figure leapt up from its depths. The still airborne Ruby squinted, attempting to try and get a good view of the person. Their eyes were bright yellow, brightly shining even in the sunlight. Their whole body was covered in an inky black muck that trailed off into tiny tendrils of steam around their body. There was no mistake that this was the boy she had been fighting before, but he no longer resembled a human. This was rage form.

Before Ruby even had a chance to react, his hand was already gripped onto her head. He shifted his momentum downwards, the sharp wind of their descent beginning to trail onto Ruby’s back. She screamed, but it was muffled by Sora’s palm, his striking yellow eyes staying fixed and unblinking as the two plummeted downwards.

CRASH!

Ruby’s body was slammed against the ice hard. A crater formed around her; pattern pressed like a spiderweb. Before she could even register the pain though, Sora grabbed her leg and tossed her sideways, sending her skating across the ground. She only barely managed to recover, weakly sticking a leg out to halt her sliding. She stood up, trying to remain unphased by Sora’s sudden transformation but this was easier said than done. His body hunched over, trails of shadow steaming from his arms. His very posture radiated power. It was as if another hit from him could completely end the fight. She was already bracing for his next attack, hoping to god that it would be blockable.

But what he did next wasn’t even an attack.

Instead, he reached over to his darkness-covered keyblade, clutching the hidden mickey keychain. With a sharp pull of his arm, he ripped the dangling symbol off of his weapon, sending links of dark, inky chain scattering to the floor. A few seconds of pure silence past, Sora lurching over himself before…

FWOOSH!

Ruby’s silver eyes clutched shut as an overpowering explosion of light emerged from his form. It was more powerful than the sun itself, Sora being submerged in a cluster of dazzling white light. When it wore off, he stood there no longer engulfed by darkness, but by his own heart. His weapon had been transformed into a white blade with streaks of red running down it, but that was nothing compared to the brightly-colored blades that spiraled around him. Sora gently opened his eyes; clothes dyed a fresh shade of black and white. Then a small smile graced his face.

β€œI’ve got it.”

Ruby once more charged forward with her petal rush. She unfurled from her form, slicing at Sora. Her blade collided with the ultima weapon, a sharp clink ringing out from the clash. The collective weight of the blades teetered together, though it was hardly a fair fight. All of Ruby’s power behind her blade was amounting to nothing in the face of even the slightest pull from Sora. She was forced to release the grip and quickly vaulted upward with the aid of her semblance. A quick switch to sniper mode and she unleashed a messy volley of bullets at her foe.

β€œBack at ya!” Sora called, a suddenly-appearing swarm of blade constructs cutting down the shots before they could even hope to hit him.

He leapt upward, the swords circling above him like a spiral staircase. Ruby attempted to block the barrage of blades but their collective force soon proved enough to send her crashing down to the ground. She rolled up from her back, crescent rose unfurling back to its upright position in hopes that she could deflect his next wave. Sora had other ideas. He pointed his keyblade out, a ball of yellow energy bunching up on the head of the weapon.

β€œRagnarΓΆk!” He shouted, unleashing an eruption of streaming gold lasers.

Ruby spun her scythe in a circle, snuffing the attack out while Sora charged forward towards her. His blades circled around him marvelously, forcing Ruby to duck out of the way instead of attack. Her aura became continually depleted, the girl zipping from point to point in hope that she would manage to shake the swirling barrage of swords that was chasing her. She eventually managed to maneuver out of the way, but now she was airborne and defenseless. Out of nowhere, Sora surged forward, ultima weapon thrust out. Ruby futilely tried to slash him out of the air, but he was far too fast for this to be anything more than an effort in ineffectuality. One second, he was in front of her, the next, he was behind her.

WOOOOOOOSH!

A circular prison of blades slashed through Ruby, slamming her unconscious form the ground with glimmering force.

K.O!

As opposed to her rough landing, Sora landed gently on the ground, black and white flannel fading out in favor of his classic red and black. He turned around to face the knocked-out organization member, waiting for one of Xehanort’s portals to appear and take her away like it would because she was obviously an organization member.

A few seconds passed.

A few more seconds passed.

A lot more seconds passed.

Any day now.

Any day…

Sora’s eye twitched.

β€œOh my god, I’m so sorry!”
