Location: Crown City - Pokemon.
With Zoroark on the loose, Grings Kodai had been granted permission from G.U.N. to have Agent Shadow assist him in apprehending the beast. Shadow blitzed through the city streets, following the explosions as they happened. Eventually, his pursuit lead him into a back alley, which he wandered into, every sense alert. From above, Zoroark was watching him, and it knew that Shadow was here to fight it. Zoroark charged up a Dark Pulse attack, which Shadow heard. The hedgehog leaped away from the attack and Zoroark jumped down, blocking the entrance.
HERE WE GO!
Shadow clenched his fists and charged up a beam of Chaos energy from his hands. Zoroark caught on to this and leaped into action, striking at the hedgehog's throat with a Night Slash. Shadow rolled away from the Pokemon's rapid strikes before planting a kick to Zoroark's chin, stopping the Illusion Fox Pokemon's offense for the time being while he blasted it with a Chaos Spear. Zoroark flew back first into the side of a dumpster, but recovered quickly. The Pokemon then grabbed the dumpster and threw it at Shadow, who leaped into the air to avoid it. Zoroark followed him into the air and slashed him across the chest several times before blasting him back down to the ground with a Dark Pulse from up close. Shadow landed back first into the floor and Zoroark went to stomp on Shadow's chest. The Ultimate Lifeform teleported away and Zoroark's attack made a large dent in the ground. Shadow then reappeared in front of Zoroark and clocked it in the face with two spinning kicks before punching it out into the main streets.
Zoroark skidded across the ground, but got back up and fired a Dark Pulse into the alleyway. Shadow ran up the walls to dodge before leaping out into the street, kicking at Zoroark's temple. The Pokemon ducked the attack and caught Shadow in the back with a kick, sending him through the glass of a bus stop. Shadow spilled out into the road as Zoroark attacked with Pursuit. Shadow sidestepped the attack and the Pokemon struck the door of a parked car. Shadow then summoned two spheres of Chaos to his hands and hurled them at either side of Zoroark. Just as the attacks were about to connect, Zoroark leaped high into the air, where Shadow met them with a kick to the ribs, followed by a leg drop to send them careening back down to the floor. Shadow landed in front of the grounded Illusion Fox, but as he did, Zoroark's eyes began to glow, and a large light washed over him. When the hedgehog reopened his eyes, the figure of someone very close to him had taken Zoroark's place.
"M...Maria?" Shadow stammered in disbelief.
"Shadow... help me..." Maria pleaded.
Shadow reached out to her, but as his hand touched hers, she disappeared into dust. As she did, Shadow felt a powerful blast hit him from behind. Zoroark's Night Daze to be exact. Shadow yelled out in pain as he skidded across the ground, slamming through a street light and bouncing off the wall of a building. Zoroark stood over Shadow, seething as it charged up another attack. Shadow then began to glow red, then quickly fired a Chaos Spear into Zoroark's chest, this one much more powerful than the last one. Zoroark landed on its back as Shadow began to stand back up. Fueled by rage, Shadow flew at Zoroark with a Homing Attack, striking it in the chest as it tried to stand back up. Shadow then attacked relentlessly with multiple body blows before axehandling the Pokemon to the ground. Still in the air, Shadow called upon Chaos Lance, firing a large red energy bolt at Zoroark. Zoroark met the attack with a Dark Pulse, the two attacks creating an explosion in between both combatants.
Neither waited for the smoke to disperse and instead, they both lunged for each other, trading punches and kicks for slashes and cuts. Eventually, there was a break in the conflict when Shadow and Zoroark both fired a Chaos Lance and a Dark Pulse from point blank, sending both combatants scattering. Zoroark slammed head first into the side of a bus, while Shadow was sent crashing through a wooden bench. After a while, it was Shadow who stood first, but Zoroark wasn't too far behind. Zoroark began to charge up a Night Daze attack, while Shadow charged up a Chaos Blast. But as they powered up, Zoroark quickly flashed another illusion in front of Shadow.
"Shadow... please..."
Shadow shut his eyes. No matter how much it pained him to do so, he had to accept that Maria was gone. What he was seeing was not real. Eventually, both attacks were cast, but after a few seconds, Zoroark found themselves overwhelmed by the power of Chaos and let out a scream of rage as they burned to ashes.
After a while, Shadow's comlink began to ring, and the caller was not very pleased. "You ignorant beast, I wanted it alive!" Kodai roared. Shadow frowned. "Hm. You seemed to have left that part out when we made our deal." he said.
Kodai angrily crushed his comlink in his hands. This was sure going to complicate things.
